Meet Dr. Nidhi Kotak

Pediatric Dentist Dr. Nidhi Kotak has practiced all over the world. That experience, along with outside interests such as marathon training and improv theater, have made her a better clinician. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

She's practiced dentistry in five countries: India, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya, United States and most recently in Canada. Dental outreach has taken her to many incredible places. On one such mission in Ladakh, India, she had the fortune of meeting the Dalai Lama. From another special mission trip to Maasai Mara, she has countless stories of treating the beautiful Maasai tribe in the midst of the African Savannah surrounded by wildlife. Her journey so far has been unconventional, but she wouldn't have had it any other way. Dr. Nidhi's experiences help her better connect with patients of different cultures and geographies.

While in residency at Temple University, she was the chief resident and she got additional training to become a certified lactation counselor after encountering many young mothers whose newborns had tongue and lip ties.

In 2011 she was awarded the Young Outstanding Dentist Award at the IDRR conference and recently she was also awarded the Lucy Hobbs 2023 award "Woman to watch."

She has trained at the Second City in Chicago in improvisational theater, loves to perform and loves to incorporate improv with her patient interactions to make it more fun for the kids. Wouldn't you agree that kids are the best improvisers?

In the past few years, she has figured out a way to combine her passion to be on stage, dance and talk about teeth through social media. You can find her on instagram@babytoothdentist with over 20K followers where she continues to create engaging videos to help parents and caregivers make the right decisions on their oral health. Ranging from thumb sucking to pacifiers to baby bottle cavities, she covers it all!

Lower mainland families love working with her! Her top priority is to ensure parents and their children have a stress-free experience and feel cared for in a trusting environment. She believes that communication is key in understanding a patient's needs and setting their expectations.
